
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan is the nearest historical city from Delhi to visit. Known as the Pink City, this attracts millions of domestic and over 6 lakh international tourists annually, ranking as one of India's most visited cities. On weekends, various tourists from Delhi NCR plan Jaipur trip and so did we. It was such a beautiful experience. From wandering forts to watching Kathputli (Puppet) Dance, the trip was memorable. Here, I'm gonna tell you what things a first-time visitor need to do and what should be avoided.
Tourist places in Jaipur
HAWA MAHAL : palace features beautiful jharokhas and windows. This five-storey building has been built without a foundation and is known for its exceptional ventilation, which is also the reason behind its name, Hawa Mahal, aka palace of winds.

JANTAR MANTAR : Jantar Mantar is one of the world’s most remarkable astronomical observatories built before modern telescopes and computers. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site because of its scientific and cultural importance.

AMBER PALACE : Amber palace, popularly spelled Amer fort is built on Aravalli hills with strategic defense. The fort contains: Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Hall), hidden tunnels, royal courtyards, temples, gardens, lake, underground escape routes connecting to Jaigarh Fort.

CITY PALACE : City Palace is one of the top tourist attractions in the city because it combines royal history, beautiful architecture, museums, courtyards, and living heritage of the Jaipur royal family.

ALBERT HALL MUSEUM (CENTRAL MUSEUM) : famous for its beautiful Indo-Saracenic architecture, historical artifacts, and night lighting.

NAHARGARH FORT : is unique because of its hilltop views, royal retreat design, hidden stories, connected defense system, and beautiful sunset experience in the pink city.

JAIGARH FORT : Home of the World’s Largest Cannon on Wheels. The fort is famous for Jaivana Cannon.

KANAK VRINDAVAN : is famous for beautiful Mughal-style gardens, views of the Aravalli hills, and connection to Lord Krishna traditions.

ISHWAR LAT (SARGASULI) : Isarlat (Sargasuli Tower), is famous as a historic victory tower in Jaipur. It is one of the tallest historical structures in the city. It offers panoramic views of Jaipur.

MARKETS OF JAIPUR : The markets are a major part of Jaipur tourism. They reflect Rajasthan’s royal culture.

JAL MAHAL : Located in the center of Man Sagar Lake on the road to Amber Fort, it appears to float in the middle of a lake.

Things to do in the Pink city of India
- You must explore the city to know the history, the architecture, the colors and culture.
- Shop local. Local shops around historical monuments offer antique items and clothes. You may be new to shop unique Rajasthani items like Bandhani prints, Juttis, Lac bangles, decore items, gem stones, etc.
- Hawa Mahal is quite beautiful but have you ever seen it in night? In the chaos of Jaipur, the beauty of palace in night looks unreal. You must witness it.
- For a royal Jaipur experience, stay at a royal hotel during the trip. You won't regret later. Jaipur is the royal place and various hotels offer royal rooms with hospitality and food. Do not skip that.
- Watch a Cultural Show at Chokhi Dhani to experience Rajasthani folk dance, traditional food, puppet shows.
- At Nahargarh fort, experience beautiful sunset and city skyline views.
- Must-Try Jaipur Foods : Dal Baati Churma, Pyaaz Kachori, Ghewar, Jodhpuri Ladoos.
- One of the best experiences is watching Hawa Mahal from a rooftop café.
Tips to have a memorable trip
- Tour guide is must for history exploration but do not trust on any guide blindly. Choose practically.
- Avoid taking Rikshaws from tourist places because of their costly fare.
- Start early every day. The city gets hot and crowded easily.
- Jaipur is best enjoyed slowly. Do not make your itinerary for various places in fewer time.
- The heat and walking can exhaust you fast. Carry bottled water with you. Additionally, have scarf, sunglasses and cap.
- Bargain in local markets due to higher prices quoted initially.
