Why Does Gratitude really matter?

Why Does Gratitude really matter?

Being grateful is an underrated emotion about that people rarely discuss. What is Gratitude? We should know that. Gratitude is an emotion through which you express thankfulness for what you have received from someone or something. It could be expressed through narration, words, poem, writings, gifts, prayers, meditation etc.

I did not know what should I write today, but now I’m glad that I am going to share my own thoughts -thoughts about expressing emotions and teaching others the art of being thankful.

In this materialistic life, I am grateful to the people who stood by my side in every circumstance. I am grateful for the lessons I learned, even from those I do not like much – they shaped me into who I am today.

In the non-materialistic realm, I bow to the divine energy – the energy that guides you even when you are unaware. That divine force protects you in every situation. For me, this divine energy is the universe which aligns things in your favor when you are receptive.

Between these two, I believe that the soul within you is the ultimate essence, the greatest of all. You are not truly positive if you are not grateful for your own soul.

Let’s understand why gratitude should be a necessity. From my personal experience, I realized that being grateful is not only about thankfulness but also about how you perceive yourself. The way you show your kind gesture toward others mirror your thoughts. Whether it’s the divine energy or a regular vendor, your thankfulness clarifies your decisions.

I used to complain about issues in my life. I thought I was not born with a silver spoon or similar excuses, but thanks to my mother, who taught me the biggest life lesson. She instructed me to be grateful for what I currently have. My question was, “what about the things that I lack? what about the scarcity I suffer now?” She answered, “Pray, then.” In simple words, If you have enough food, water, and shelter, you should be thankful. If you face difficulties, pray instead of complain.

I followed this advice for about one and half year maybe. My life was quite good. I felt calmer and happier despite some challenges. During that time I felt more beautiful. I did not know the reason but I was feeling good about being alive. I did not go to club or parties yet I was happier. I sensed that universe is listening to me. I practiced yoga, prayers, and meditation. My life was balanced and my mind was more peaceful.

One day, somehow, my routine went derail for a longer time. I stopped doing my practices. I still prayed, but my energy weakened. My mind became cloudy, and I lacked clarity in my approach to life. I wondered, even though I prayed daily, why did I feel unclear? Why did it seem like the universe is no longer listening? Days passed, and I realized that I had forgotten to be grateful to the universe. I was full of complaints.

The conclusion is : You must be grateful for everything you have received so far. Not only toward universe but also toward people who do cook food for you on which you are alive, Not only toward your own soul but also toward people who support you unconditionally, people who grow your food, mother Earth that take care of you and mother nature that keep you alive! Respect and protect it.
