The southwest monsoon has started now, and almost all parts of India are experiencing heavy rain every day. With this, the air is often humid, which can cause problems like fever, itching, and moisture everywhere on rainy days. Because of this sometimes we feel irritated. Although having tea and some snacks during a rainy day is amazing, to make it feel better, here I’m pointing out 10 tips, also to stay safe and disease-free in this rainy season:
Mix neem water in your bathing water – In the Market, there are lots of liquids available that kill germs and are good for your health, but I prefer the natural one. So I suggest adding neem water to your bathing water, which is even more effective than the commercial ones. Neem water kills germs and bacteria that cause redness and itchiness in the Monsoon. It keeps your skin clean and disease-free.
Neem water recipe: To get neem water, wash neem leaves with clean water and boil them with 1 glass of clean water.
Have ginger, basil, and black pepper tea – It’s necessary to take care of your health in this season. Sometimes, without realizing, we get sick and that ruins our day. To get rid of this, drink herbal tea daily that includes ginger, basil, and black pepper. Instead of refined sugar, use jaggery.
Wipe out the floor with this solution – I made my own, so it’s an effective solution to get my home dirt and germ-free. It’s effective, especially in monsoon when houseflies, lizards, ants, etc. come inside the home.
To make this solution, I use wasted lemon peels or any citrus fruits peels, reetha ( natural soap), aloevera (optional), a little jaggery piece and baking soda. Keep this solution for at least 30 days and you’ll get an amazing, homemade, effective solution for cleaning any kind of floor. It keeps humidity and smell away.
Drink boiled water – In less urban areas of India, where the TDS is consistently below 300-500 mg/L, an RO system might not be needed. However, even if TDS is low, other contaminants could still be present, especially on rainy days when the level of groundwater increases. In that case, drink water after boiling it. A single boiling could be beneficial.
Always wipe your body thoroughly after getting wet – To get rid of any fungus, always wipe your body parts.
Avoid getting wet often – This can lead to a fungal infection, smelly hair or body. So, avoid being wet.
To get rid of smell – Make a cotton cloth pouch, if your room smells in the rain due to humidity. This one is my favourite. For making a cotton cloth pouch, you need a piece of cotton cloth, any essential oil ( optional), baking soda, crushed mint leaves, tulsi or Chandan tulsi flower, and rose petals. You can add any citrus peels too. Make a potli of it and hang it in your room. The surreal fragrance of this will make your room smell earthy and fresh. You can also keep it with your clothes in the cupboard.
Avoid fried, oily, and sour foods – Ayurveda suggests avoiding fried, oily, and sour foods during the monsoon season, as they are heavy and make you lazy. They even increase the dominant dosha in your body.
Avoid green leafy vegetables – In rainy seasons, it is considered not to eat leafy vegetables as they are more prone to insects. At this time, our body is vulnerable. Always try to eat warm and homemade foods.
Cover your windows with a net if they open in bushy areas – If your home is surrounded by a garden or trees, there might be possibilities that snakes or other insects could come in, so it is better to cover the windows with a net, especially in the monsoon.
With these tips, feel the beauty of this season with a cup of tea in your balcony. HAPPY MONSOON! 🙂
